Dear Yellow Jacket/Jacket Jazz Family;

I am very excited about the 2010 season!  There will be quite a few changes this year in all areas including rules, procedures by the club, and changes in our board personnel.

We will be having our practices at the new Briscoe Park, located behind the YMCA on highway 35.  Our games will be back at Alvin High School’s Memorial Stadium.  It was so awesome to see our boys and girls all looking so proud to be playing and performing on the turf!  A big thank you to all of the board members and volunteers that were so helpful last year with everything from concessions to monitoring and chains to clean-up duty.  It was the result of this team work that makes the athletic department so willing to allow us to secure the stadium again this year!!

Our organization could not do what we do for our children without the efforts of all of our volunteers.  Volunteers giving of their time, efforts, and talents are what make a non-profit organization work.  We all need to work together and communication is a huge key in that!  Please come to one of the board members or your team’s head coach if you have a concern, question, or suggestion.

Please remember that during games and ALL practices, it is required that one parent or guardian is to be present at all times.  This is for the safety of your child(ren).  We may need to get proper medical attention to your child in a timely manner and will not be able to do so if you are not there to consult.

There will be many opportunities to be involved in fundraising this year.  Whether you are working the concession stand or helping out at a car wash or selling fundraiser items, please keep in mind that all of the monies taken in by your efforts will directly benefit the children.  Fundraisers are what keep the cost of registration down.  We have one of the lowest registration fees in TIFI, although costs of regular operating expenses are constantly on the rise.   We are only able to keep our costs down due to fundraisers and sponsorships.

For the summer, please try your best to keep the boys and girls outside and active as much as possible to get acclimated to the heat.  Also, get them used to drinking water only; absolutely no carbonated beverages!!  Most of our season the weather is quite hot and the kids stand to get dehydrated easily.  Help us to give the kids a great start to the practice season by getting their bodies ready for the extreme change in activity levels and heat from the outdoors!!

On behalf of all board members of this year’s Alvin Yellow Jackets and Jacket Jazz Dancers, we would like to welcome all new members of our Jacket family and welcome back all returning members!!  This season stands to be one of the best!  Let’s all work together to make this happen!

Sincerely,

Barbara LeBlanc
