Dear Yellow Jacket/Jacket Jazz Family;

Welcome back to another exciting season of football, drill and cheer!!   We will see more changes than ever this year with our additions of mini poms and flag football, so we are in for our most exciting season yet thus far!  This is also the 40th anniversary year of TIFI!!!

Football  will continue to practice at Briscoe Park (located at 3201 South Hwy 35, right behind the YMCA).   Our games, as well as the practices for drill and cheer,  will be back at Alvin High School’s Memorial Stadium.  A big thank you to all of the board members and volunteers that were so helpful last year.  It was this team effort that enabled us to obtain use of this facility again this year!!  Also, thank you to the AISD athletic department and Coach Bass for your support of the AYJ program!!

Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and we all need to work together and communicate to make this organization successful.  Please come to one of the board members or your team’s head coach/director if you have any concerns, questions, or suggestions.

During ALL games and practices, it is required that one parent or guardian be present.   This is for the safety of your child(ren) and the ability to render medical attention, if necessary.  With this being said, you MAY NOT go onto the field AT ANY TIME during practices or games.  If your child is involved in an injury or other situation necessary for your attention, your coach will notify you immediately.  It is against TIFI policy for any unauthorized persons to be on the field at any time without the proper forms submitted and approved by TIFI.

Since registration is during the spring and we do not start practicing until the following fall, we would like to send out a few reminder from the coaches.  Have your child(ren) spend as much time as possible outdoors to get them acclimated to the high temperatures we will endure during the first couple of months of the season.  However wonderful it is to see our kids playing and performing at the stadium, it is much hotter than grass due to the turf.  The coaches will do their job during the season to make sure the kids are hydrated, but we need the parents’ help to prepare them over the summer.  Please make sure they stay hydrated.  Lots of water, please.  Also, please try to either illiminate or limit the use of any carbonated drinks as they will cause dehydration.  Please assist us to give the kids a great start to the season by getting their bodies ready for the extreme change in activity levels and heat from the outdoors!!

This will be the last year of several of our board members.  Please consider taking over a board position for the 2012 season.  It is work, but thoroughly enjoyable and creates memories that last a lifetime for you and your child(ren).

On behalf of all board members of this year’s Alvin Yellow Jackets and Jacket Jazz Dancers, we would like to welcome all new members of our Jacket family and welcome back all returning members!!

Sincerely,

Barbara LeBlanc – President
